Angry Bird Android

What does it take to make an addictive game? Not much -- just throw in some super simple controls, cute graphics, and basic physics. Rovio Mobile's Angry Birds is one such game that includes all these elements, and today the studio's just released a public Android beta to cater those without an IOS, webOSor Maemo 5 device. In case you're not already familiar with the popular title, the backstory is that a gang of hungry pigs snatched away some eggs from the birds, forcing the feathered creatures to embark on a rescue mission for the sake of their survival. The gameplay on the Android version is just as simple as before: in each level you use a fixed slingshot to fling the birds -- one at a time -- into the forts, in order to kill all the pigs inside. As a secondary challenge, you must also attempt to get a three-star rating depending on the amount of structural material you destroy, so the key is to perfect your shooting angle.

At the beginning you're only given one type of bird that does nothing more than just headbutting, but throughout the game you'll come across six more birds, each possessing one special power: multiply, explode, accelerate, dropping egg bombs, boomerang, and extra strength. Don't worry, the instructions are pretty clear when you first meet these enhanced kamikaze birds -- most involve just a single tap anywhere to trigger their special abilities mid-flight. Once you get the hang of it, you'll soon be wanting to try out all sorts of trajectories to take vengeance on those cheeky green hogs. Seriously, the pigs really do laugh at you when your birds miss them.

Angry Birds Seasons episode, “Summer Pignic”

Summer is a great time to go out and play, but sometimes it’s just too hot to leave the house. To help you pass the time while you’re waiting for the temperature to drop, Rovio has just released an update for Angry Birds Seasons that gives bird-chucking players 30 new summer-themed levels. You may break a sweat while playing, but at least you can attribute that to the difficulty of the game and not the hot sun beating down on you.

Rovio introduced a new “Mine and Dine” episode for its normal Angry Birds game, but most Birds fans have probably already beaten that and are ready for more.Angry Birds Summer Pignic is the sixth holiday themed Angry Birds episode.

In addition to the new levels, Angry Birds Seasons 1.5 update also includes in-game summer-themed greeting cards that users can send to their friends. That way, you can send your friend a nice Angry Birds greeting card while she’s away at summer camp. And don’t worry, you won’t be spending hours at a time flinging birds at pigs; like the other levels of Seasons, you can only unlock one level per day.

Angry Birds is downloaded 1 million times every day.

X-Construction (Android Game)

If you’ve played any physics style games before such as World of Goo or Spaghetti Marshmellows, then you will be semi familiar with how X Construction works.  In this game your mission is to get the train from the left side of the tracks to the right side.  As you can see below in the screenshot, you build supports so the train doesn’t crash and kill everyone aboard.

In the top left of the screen is the go button to try out your creation, the girder button in the top right allows you to place the girders and tells you how many you have left and the wrench allows you remove any girder that you’ve placed by selecting it.  Below that are the undo, zoom in, and zoom out buttons.  If you look at the above image closely enough you can notice that there is a white dot grid in the background.  Those are the different points you can extend the girders to.

Features we’d love to see in the next release:

• Ability to build the track to go up or down, not just straight across
• Ability to create X number of anchor points per stage/level
• Have the start point and end points at different height levels so teh builder has to either slow the train down or speed it up to reach the goal
• Have placing the end of the girders/pylons follow your finger rather than being directly under it so you can place the ends better
• Put ads somewhere else like a corner
